Writing Prompt #1

List the positive messages you have received about writing or about any creative undertaking. What did people say? How did they say it? Then write about times when you felt good about your writing such as when a great idea zipped into your mind or when you finished a project that turned out well. Keep these messages and memories handy. When your feeling stale or want to berate yourself about your work, read about what you've done in the past and know you can do it again.

Re: Writing Prompt #1

People seem to like the songs that I write. Most of them are pretty catchy and have great lyrics. The big problem is when I deliver them..vocally! I'm not the best singer, but I love doing it.

Nobody really had much enthusiasm in my songs except on occasions I would go out to an open mic and get really good results. It makes your feel like a million bucks for the rest of the night.

I just had an idea jump into my head tonight for a verse in a song I've been writing for a couple years now. The song has been complete for 3 years, I just haven't had time to record it yet on my multi-tracker...and I came up with a 3rd verse to it tonight. You gotta love inspiration when it strikes!

How about you guys? Why don't you give this prompt a try? This prompt came from the book by Jack Heffron, "The Writer's Idea Book." I suggest giving it a read. Keeps your mind active, and keeps you active, writing wise!
